Quality Assurance in the Manufacture of Turbine Airfoils

The process of manufacturing turbine airfoils requires multiple inspections using diverse test procedures throughout casting, machining and coating.  Many of these inspections are time-intensive, manual processes, such as pin or wire testing for blockages. 

TWI developed the T3S Thermographic Turbine Test Station to consolidate the  multiple inspection processes into a single system using one technology -- thermography.
