TWI Adds Training / Manufacturing Annex

Thermal Wave Imaging recently added a 3500 sq. ft. annex dedicated to customer training and advanced systems manufacturing. The expansion into the new facility, adjacent to TWI’s Madison Heights, MI headquarters, was made in response to increased demand for training, and to accommodate TWI’s growth in large scale and automated systems manufacturing. Lab, engineering, admin and commercial product manufacturing will remain in the main building. TWI V.P. Bharat Chaudhry commented: “The expansion is in response to the growing demand for advanced industrial thermography solutions that we have experienced. The new, dedicated facility also allows us to build on our commitment to our customers with expanded training options.”

TWI began offering training courses in 1998 to specifically address the needs of NDT personnel using thermography for aerospace applications. Since then, hundreds of students from leading companies and research institutions have attended.  The courses meet ASNT TC-1A and NAS-410 requirements and cover not only practical thermographic NDT, but also the underlying principles, which span materials science, heat transfer, signal processing, and the unique (and evolving) challenges presented by modern composite, ceramic and metallic materials.  The courses include lab sessions so that students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art NDT systems in the TWI laboratory.
